Phantom Water Edit

Here’s some footage captured with the Phantom HD Gold by Chris Bryan. This turns out to be really calming with the crazy 1000 FPS and syncopated music. Check out Chris’ webpage: www.chrisbryanfilms.com

The Tori Movie

Here is a cool little short shot by the cinematographer on 3:31, Kevin Sibley.  Shot with his new toy: Canon T2i/550D.  The subject of the video is a wonderfully talented photographer in her own right.  You can check out her work here.

Collision Course

Tony West and Logan Bowes ask me to DP this trailer.  It was shot in a day for the DCWF Film Scramble (theDCWF.org).  Shot on the XH-A1 with a Letus Extreme and two lenses – Nikon f1.2 28mm and Nikon f1.2 50mm.  Our team drew the suspense/thriller category and everyone had to use an unseen character named “Johnny Jenkins”.  The film premiered at the Crescent Theatre on January 30th, 2010.  The 80 people in attendance voted on the films showing:

◙ Winner of the Brainiac Award (Best use of movie trailer format)

◙ Winner of the Make This Award (Trailer of a film you would most like to watch)

◙ Winner of the “Johnny Jenkins” Award (Best use of “Johnny Jenkins”)

Jerry Peterson – Broadcast Pioneer

This is a video presentation for Jerry Peterson’s acceptance in the the SC Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Jerry has worked in radio and television for almost 60 years and was a pioneer in the industry; being the first meteorologist to broadcast in chroma-key (weather wall green screen used widely today). He has been a television meteorologist at WBBN & WGN in Chicago, WTVT in Tampa, and WSOC in Charlotte. You can still hear Jerry doing weather on WHRI in South Carolina.

Tiffany and the Uminutes were at Bayfest 2009 for Akon, T-Pain, Jesse James, Ludacris, and many more… (part I)

Suddenly – Magnus Engsfors

A really neat effect using 3D layering in After Effects.  It uses all still photographs that are broken apart into pieces and layers and animated over one another.  Pretty cool stuff for a program that is not specifically a 3D program, but has options to “simulate” 3d.

Runimation – Demo Reel

Here is a demo reel of this group out of Austria.  It is shot with a mix of HVX, EX1, and HPX.  I think all of the mountain range shots are EX1, but that is just a guess.  There are some of the best heli shots I have ever seen.  The pin turn towards the end is beautifully constructed.  My favorite parts though, are the sequence at 1:00 and the snowboard tear at 1:34.  Anyway, check it out in HD.  You have to go to Vimeo, but it’s well worth it.  Lemme know what you think.

Also, check out a new website they were involved in: www.supercarmovies.com Scroll down until you see the “Episode 12: The Enzo.”  It is crazy how hard the driver pushes a $500,000 Ferrari. A really neat perspective from the cockpit.

"The Speech" (2008)

Democrat Senator Barack Obama gave Tuesday a victory speech before a crowd of 125,000 ecstatic supporters gathered in Chicago’s Grant Park, after he captured the White House, defeating Republican John McCain to make history as the first African-American president.

What a speech!  I may have shed a man-tear or two.  He always seems to say the perfect thing, at the perfect moment.  He exudes a confidence and swagger that hasn’t been seen throughout our country’s political history.  His intrusive charisma seems to not allow your eyelids to blink.  I hope his promises come to fruition.

Obama Infomercial (2008)

Part I of VI on youtube.

OK, fine.  It still did not solidify who I was going to vote on in the last hour.  But, this “info-mercial-docu-drama” was one of the most impressive, well done programs I had ever seen.  The thing aired on like 7 networks (not CNN) and was within the last week of his campaign.  This is uncommon because past candidates have been out of money this close to an election and unable to afford such an extravagant tool.  Still undecided, though (sorry).

Click on the link box below the video and you can navigate to the next part of the four part series.
