"Southshore": Day One

I am re-managing my blog to be more of a diary; to reflect my thoughts and ideas and to get suggestions on the making of my new documentary; the soon to probably have a different name: “Southshore.” As of this post, I have researched books about independent filmmaking, financing, cinematography, etc.  I am also writing what will become the first draft of the script.

This is how I stand right now:  I have shit!  No camera, no crew, no lights, no financing, no…whatever else you could possibly name that is required to make a film.  But, I do have a vision.  I have made contacts for interviews, possible main characters, and have researched the topic thoroughly(with plenty more of that to come).  I have saved some money, about $1,400 dollars, for the purchase of a camera(yeah, it’s not much, I know).  The camera is an Canon XH-G1.  I have researched for months on this camera and I am sold!  If he doesn’t come through on the sale, then I will have my very first major problem in getting this thing off the ground.

Till then, I will be writing and researching and making contacts for what hopefully be the start of a new exciting journey. I would appreciate any input you have, be it advice, encouragement, and yes, even criticism.  I will be posting the progress exclusively on this blog, so give it a visit when you come across some downtime.

    A vision. That’s how all-great things start. If you have the drive and initiative to do it then I don’t see why you can’t achieve it. Good luck and I’ll be waiting for that Jonny Hee blockbuster.

    Hey buddy,
    How is the film coming? I like the title, but it’s hard to say 5 times fast. How about changing it one more time to Greenhorne? Let me know what i can do to help. Come hang out in the northwest when you get a chance.
    Matty,

    Greetings to you Jon – hope all is well with you, Tiffany, Project “Southshore” , and the daily drama of local media. Sorry I have not been in touch; being persona non grata at our usual cafe has forced us to patron alternate drinking establishments (foosball required). If you wander into midtown look for my shiny chrome dome at Trolleys, Mellow Mushroom etc.

    Leaving Sunday for North Carolina, but when we return we have to get together for a JaegerBomb or two-

      Brian,

      Why the “persona non grata” at the cafe? hmmmm. We’ll definitely have to get together. Project “Southshore” has been beached for the moment. I am working on another small project that might interest you. I will let you know when it’s finnished. Give me a buzz upon your return: (251) 648 – 1612 or jonherndon@hotmail.com
